Joseph Wilkes, the Entrepreneur
Discover the story of Joseph Wilkes, an early entrepreneur from the Heart of the Forest. Born in Overseal, Wilkes went on to transform Measham from a small mining village to a model settlement of the industrial revolution. For this talk members of Measham Museum will discuss his varied enterprises including coalmining, banking, tramways, textiles, Ashby Canal and his well-known Gob Bricks.
