Songs from the Heart
Join Broadside Ballad singer Jennifer Reid for a talk about songs of the Industrial Revolution, including ballads about the pits and potteries. Jennifer’s initial research into songs and stories about this area have yielded interesting results, including tails of wassails, silicosis, applying clog dance steps to traditional songs and bouncing bombs!
Hear about the Heart of the Forest ballad featuring local characters Jimmie Graber, Joseph Wilkes, Marquis of Hastings and the mysterious Tree Rabbits, along with plans to start a local ballad collective to explore industrial heritage through song.
This talk is FREE but capacity is limited. Book your place in advance by contacting blacktogreen@nationalforest.org or call 01283 511211.
