Women of the Woods

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2017 Black to Green are running an introduction to Woodland Management aimed especially at women. The session will provide a supportive environment to have a go at some practical woodland management including thinning trees. The session will be run by Marion Farrell from Groundwork who will help you to identify the trees, explain why they are being thinned and show you how to safely fell them.

The session will be supported by Helen Bralesford, a member of Heartwood Community Woodfuel Group, who help to manage woodlands in the Heart of the Forest by thinning trees in return for the wood that they fell.

To take part no special experience or skills are required as all health and safety training and supervision will be covered. Just bring yourself and lots of enthusiasm!

Please come in sturdy footwear, old clothes and a waterproof. Bring a drink and snack with you. All tools and equipment will be provided!

This session is FREE to attend but places are limited. To book please contact blacktogreen@nationalforest.org or call 01283 551 211.
